I build software that has to actually work — in clinics, in banks, in the field, offline, on a phone that is five years old.

Software engineer in Pittsburgh. Fifteen-plus years of building products in industries where the requirements are written by regulators and the users are not optional.

What I
actually do

No agency menu. These are the things I am genuinely good at. Tap one to see what that actually means.

Here is what the work actually involved — the constraint that shaped it, and what shipped.

How I work

Years of watching software projects succeed and fail produce a short list of opinions. These are mine.

  • Most failed projects were mis-scoped, not mis-built. I would rather spend the first week arguing about what we are actually making than spend the last month discovering we disagreed.

  • Something real in front of users early, then again, then again. A vertical slice that works end to end tells you more in a day than a spec tells you in a month.

  • Every engagement should end with your team able to run the thing without me. Documented, conventional, boring where boring is correct. Cleverness is a cost you pay later.

  • Regulated data, bad connectivity, old devices, small budgets. These are not edge cases to handle at the end — they are the shape of the problem, and designing around them from day one is cheaper than retrofitting.

Got something* that needs building?

New builds, stalled projects, second opinions, and rescues. If you are not sure whether it is worth doing, that is a fine conversation to start with.
